Scientific Conference “LegalTech, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Legal Practice”
Krakow, Poland – 10 and 11 June 2021 [online]
AFM Krakow University’s Faculty of Law, Administration and International Relations (Poland) together with the IBEROJUR – Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos seated in Porto (Portugal) invites you to take part in the Scientific Conference “LegalTech, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Legal Practice” (I JURISTECH). The Conference will be held remotely on 10-11 June at AFM Krakow University.
The main theme of the conference is the extremely important and recently topical issue of using new technologies in the activities of the judiciary. The issue in question, although more and more frequently raised in the individual presentations of the speakers, has hardly ever been the main subject of the conference deliberations, or at most one of the many topics undertaken. As a result, this prevented a comprehensive, wide-ranging discussion of the multitude of complications arising in this connection.
The Organising Committee, recognising the gap mentioned above, decided to organise this Conference. Its primary objective is to discuss the contemporary position and situation of the judiciary and how it can be improved through the use of LegalTech technology at all stages of cases: from the initial analysis of the facts, through determining the conduct of the trial, to sentencing. The Organising Committee also hopes that some of the speakers will decide to present and analyse the use of LegalTech solutions in law firms, law enforcement agencies and legal departments of small and medium-sized enterprises, which is also of considerable practical importance nowadays.
A special place in the deliberations of the Conference will be given to the issue of using artificial intelligence and learning process of machines in legal activities. The issue should be considered particularly topical in the context of the emergence of new EU legal acts regulating the above mentioned issues. However, as for now, they have the character of the so-called soft law, nevertheless, already at this stage it is worth undertaking actions aimed at adapting the practice to their assumptions.
With the above in mind, the organisers have planned the conference as an international event, allowing presentations in English, Portuguese, Polish and Spanish.
The subject matter of the conference is extremely topical, and the publication containing the papers will undoubtedly have a pioneering character, being a signpost for further developments of both Polish and European doctrine, and most likely also legislation. According to the assumptions of the organisers, the monograph resulting from the conference will be published by a Portuguese legal publishing house.
